MINORITY MILLENNIALS

Minority Millennials, Inc. is a grassroots registered 501c3 organization that works to represent Minorities & Millennials in policies that impact our future.

The organization was founded in 2017 by Daniel Lloyd as a tool to bridge the gap between policy & culture on Long Island, NY. With a mission to represent Minorities & Millennials in policies that impact our future. We accomplish this by empowering the Minority Millennial generation and those thereafter with POLICY changes that remove obstacles to attaining and maintaining success. We work to develop ideas that solve problems in our community, create a shared consciousness of environments that promotes innovation and advocate for an inclusive and equitable quality education, healthcare and economic opportunities.

By 2060, 55% of all Americans and two thirds of the under 18 population will consist of people of color. Yet, voter turnout and political participation from younger demographics remains low. You might not believe this solemn fact given the youth activism and rallies prominently displayed across news outlets and social media but, according to the Pew Research Center, voters aged 22-29 made up just 6% of the ‘consistent voter’ block in recent national elections compared to 29% for those 65 and older.

The problem may be even more severe for black youth, whose voter turnout dropped significantly in 2016 to 49% from 55% in 2012. These trends bring to light a disconnect between minority millennials and the political process–without participation, we are unable to influence the policies that directly affect us and our communities.

Our Mission is to represent Minorities & Millennials in policies that impact our future.
