Long Island Student Task Force for High School and Undergraduate Students
As Generation-Z slowly becomes the country’s largest and most influential generation, it is crucial to offer these emerging generations a platform to express their ideas and concerns for the future. Through our Gen-Z: Civic Engagement Fellowship, a regional program, we equip youth to spearhead civic engagement efforts within their own communities while also supporting the development of an island-wide peer network seeking intergenerational change whilst also engaging the youth in the building of an equitable and prosperous Long Island.
Requirements to join:
- Must live on Long Island
- Must be a high school student or a college undergraduate student

Benefits/agenda for students apart of the Minority Millennials Student Task Force:
- Bi-weekly Zoom meetings, 30-minute meetings (each meeting topic will vary)
- Students gain community service hours for participating in the community service events
- Minority Millennials Student Blog Every month each member will write about a current event that is occurring on/affecting Long Island
- Students engage in political advocacy
- Students meet to discuss issues that are prevalent Long Island and actively seek to reform the problem/issue
- Students will become civic engagement experts
Other ideas to enhance the experience of youth task force members:
- 1 on 1 mentoring; each student will be paired with a leader in their community that will mentor them. This relationship will allow students who are already passionate about social justice to learn from adults who have experience in the public/political sphere.
- Students work together to facilitate and implement a large-scale “passion project” that improves the current conditions of Long Islanders
- Collaborate with other youth organizations such as D1 Youth Advisory Board, Voters of Tomorrow, ERASE Racism Long Island Student Task Force, Nassau County Youth Council etc.
