Objectives and Focus

Our vision is to create a pathway to economic opportunity and social equity for individuals from underserved communities. By equipping participants with the necessary skills, support, and opportunities, we aim to build a diverse and inclusive workforce in the construction and trades industry while cultivating a new generation of civic leaders committed to advocating for positive change within their communities.

Empowerment Through Education

We offer civic education, workforce training, and support services like GED prep, ID help, and transport to empower careers in union trades and community leadership

Preparation for Union Careers

We prepare participants for union trades with training, certifications, and job placement, partner with local unions and industry, and promote equitable hiring.

Civic Engagement and Empowerment

We foster civic engagement, support grassroots projects on social justice, and build leadership skills to empower participants as advocates for positive change.

Civic Education Curriculum

Training sessions that explore civic engagement principles, local power and advocacy strategies, inspiring participants to lead in their industries and communities.

Week 2:

Leadership Development

Government and Policy

Social Justice and Equity

Community Action and Empowerment

Capstone Project and Graduation

◉ Presenting individual or group projects that address a community need or issue.

Workforce Development process

Empowering careers with in-demand skills, industry certifications, tailored job support, technical expertise and hands-on development for high-growth jobs through local partners and trusted companies like Vineyard Offshore.

Assessment & Planning

Conduct initial assessments to identify participants' educational background, skills, and career goals.​ Develop personalized plans to address individual needs and barriers to employment.​

Education and Credentialing​

Provide GED preparation courses and support services for participants without a high school diploma or equivalent.​ Assist participants in obtaining NY State ID or Driver's License to facilitate access to employment opportunities.​

Soft Skills Training

Offer workshops and training sessions to develop essential soft skills such as communication, teamwork, time management, and problem-solving.​ Provide mock interviews and role-playing exercises to improve interview readiness and confidence.​

Wrap-around Support Services​

Provide ongoing mentorship, coaching, and counseling to support participants throughout their journey.
