Long Island-based Nonprofit Minority Millennials Receives Grant from M&T Bank to Expand Its Diverse Workforce Development Pipeline

With the $10,000 awarded to the organization, Minority Millennials will expand their development program for Millennials and Gen Z by providing workshops and training to prepare candidates for interviews and workforce opportunities.

Long Island, NY | January 27th, 2022 – North Amityville – based non-profit organization Minority Millennials is announcing today the M&T Bank awarded $10,000 as a grant for the organization to continue the expansion of its Diverse Workforce Development Pipeline.

In December, M&T Bank announced the winners of its Long Island Banking Partnership for Community Development 2021. An initiative for neighborhood-based organizations focused on serving and supporting marginalized communities and immigrants across the Nassau and Suffolk Counties of New York. This pilot program is set to award grants to the chosen organizations for a one-year term only.

For Minority Millennials, this grant represents a massive opportunity to expand the construction of a pipeline of underrepresented talent to present qualified candidates for each of the priority job positions available across the area.

“This grant solidifies the commitment that M&T Bank has made to work hand-in-hand to invest in Black and Brown communities. The positive ripple effects of this partnership will be seen not only today but for generations to come. These funds will go directly into creating hundreds of more career opportunities for the diverse workforce on Long Island,” says Daniel Lloyd, Founder and CEO, Minority Millennials.

Through grass-roots social media, influencer marketing and other online campaigns, Minority Millennials will leverage popular platforms such as Tik-Tok, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. These channels will be the gateway to introducing Long Island’s Black and Brown Millennial and Gen Z communities to new employment opportunities, talent development resources, and long-term career opportunities.

By creating and distributing authentically created social media content that caters directly to BIPOC Millennials and Gen Zers, Minority Millennials aims to provide these entire segments of the Long Island population with workshops that cover professional development resources. From company messaging and benefits packages to open roles and many other attractive opportunities for the diverse pool of talent within the community.

Jarret Edwards, M&T Bank’s Retail Sales Manager also added, “We’re extremely excited for the opportunity to work directly with Minority Millennials to empower community workshops that will help bolster the skills and abilities of diverse candidates that will in turn advance racial equality and economic opportunities in our communities.”
